We believe that to travel responsibly, a portion of our tour cost should benefit the communities we visit. For this trip, we will donate to two NGOs that are working in Southern Africa. PATH, a Seattle-based NGO is having a very positive impact in South Africa with its work on malaria prevention and treatment, maternal and child health, and vaccine initiatives, and ROOM TO READ—who seeks to transform the lives of millions of children worldwide by supporting literacy and gender equality in education.

Day 1-2

Depart for South Africa

Depart U.S and fly to Cape Town, losing one day due to travel and time change.

Day 3

Cape Town

Welcome to Cape Town where you will be met and transfered to your hotel in the scenic V&A waterfront. Remainder of the day at leisure to explore the marina’s restaurants, bars, museums, shops and historical Clock Tower.

Day 4

Cape Town

Get a taste for Cape Town on a private half-day tour to visit the Houses of Parliament, Greenmarket Square, the Company Gardens and the top of Table Mountain via cable car. Enjoy spectacular views of the city and the peninsula before descending to Bo-Kaap, the brightly colored historical center of the Cape Malay community.

Day 5

Cape Peninsula

Your full-day exploration of the Cape Peninsula starts with the beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay. Experience one of the world’s most breathtaking coastal drives to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve to witness the symbolic meeting of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. Visit the African Penguin breeding colony at Boulders Beach and Kirstenbosch Gardens.

Day 6

Winelands

Your private, full-day tour will take you to visit the picturesque valleys, vineyards and Cape Dutch homesteads in the heart of South Africa’s wine country. Visit Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, for a wine tasting and Paarl, one of the Cape’s first farming districts.

Day 7

Cape Town — Timbavati

Fly from Cape Town to Hoedspruit where you will be driven to Motswari Private Game Reserve, located deep within Timbavati Private Game Reserve (birthplace of the famous white lions). These private parks share an unfenced border with Kruger National Park and are characterized by strong lion, cheetah and leopard populations as well as large herds of elephant, wild dog and buffalo.

Motswari Reserve

Activities at Motswari include twice daily game drives and the option of a daily bush walk in lieu of the morning drive. Whatever you choose, the wildlife viewing is unforgettable.

Day 9

Motswari — Sabi Sand

Transfer to Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve and the 1920s-styled guest cottages at Kirkman’s Kamp. Sabi Sand is known for its high density of big game, and in particular, for prolific sightings of the elusive leopard. Head out for a game drive, or take a walk with an experienced tracker.

Sabi Sand Game Reserve

The 18 guest cottages at Kirkman’s have spectacular views of the unspoiled wilderness from their private verandas. Enjoy prime game viewing on 6300 hectares of land traversed by the Sabi Sand River, which adds a further dimension to the bio-diversity of the area.

Day 11

Sabi Sand Game Reserve

Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives as well as the wonderful hospitality at the lodge including a traditional afternoon tea or dip in the swimming pool.

Day 12

Sabi Sand — Victoria Falls

Transfer to Kruger airport for your flight to Livingstone, the historical gateway city to Victoria Falls. Settle into a stunning treehouse-style raised tent on an island in the Zambizi River, 35km upstream from Vic Falls. Surrounded by exceptional natural beauty, the Islands of Siankaba offer an unparalleled riverfront experience.

Day 13

Victoria Falls

Take in the breathtaking beauty of Victoria Falls from either the Zambia or Zimbabwe side (excludes Zimbabwean visa fee). Your choice of other activities while at Siabkaba includes: sundowner cruises, mokoro excursions, seasonal fishing, guided nature trail hikes, island picnic lunch, nursery school and local village visits on foot or by mountain bike.

Day 14

Homeward Bound

Enjoy a private car transfer to Livingstone airport for departure flight to Johannesburg airport and connecting flights home.
