October 17 – 28, 2020


Day 1

Arrive Lima

Depart home and fly to Lima. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted and transferred to our hotel. Arrive a day earlier and have the chance to experience Lima’s top-rated restaurant with Jim and Adam. (recommended with the drink pairing, of course!). This optional culinary experience is not to be missed if you’re in town!


Day 2

Historical Lima

Orientation and time to relax. Head to the Historic Centro of Lima, considered by many to be one of the most architecturally unique in the Americas. After a bus and walking tour of the gorgeous Plaza San Martin (Hotel Bolivar), then Plaza Mayor and the Catacombs of San Francisco church, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. We will then visit the Museo Larco to wrap up our historical tour at a privately-owned museum of pre-Columbian art. The chronological galleries shed light on more than 10,000 years of Peruvian history and are filled with stunning gold artifacts. Dinner this evening at a notable local restaurant.

Day 3


Morning, enjoy a walking tour through the wonderfully local food market at Surquillo, sampling and learning about the bountiful fruits, vegetables and more of the regions of Peru (Coastal, Andean and Amazon). Lunch will be at a nearby at a famous cevicheria where all sorts gather to enjoy a local’s lunch and drink. We’ll walk back towards our hotel on a small tour of Barranco, visiting Las Pallas Artesanias, with some relax time at the hotel. Kick the evening off with a Peruvian cocktail making session with Jim prior to an evening’s excursion in the nearby area of Miraflores.


Day 4

Lima – Ica

This morning, we will be picked up at our hotel in Lima for a unique visit to the warm, arid Southern coastal region of Ica. It’s wine and Pisco country. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant along the way, one of the humbler Pisco Bodegas in the region – but the food is sublime! On to the hacienda for some free time.

Optional vineyard and bodega tour, prior to an evening sunset climb on the hillside above and a wine and pisco tasting prior to dinner in house (not included).


Day 5

Ica — Paracas

This morning is at your leisure. Relax, have an early morning run through the vineyards or sleep in. Private lunch today with a notable Peruvian chef. We’ll then make our way to Paracas, stopping at the spectacular Oasis at Huacachina outside the town of nearby Ica. As the sun sets, return to our hotel for evening poolside drinks at the in-house lounge. Dinner on your own. But Jim will of course be working some magic with our local bar team at the Bodega!

Day 6

Paracas — Ollantaytambo

It’s a travel day, so grab a book, enjoy the scenery and relax! Transfer from Pisco to Lima Airport for our flight to Cusco. Private transfer to our hotel Ollantaytambo in the lush Sacred Valley upon arrival. Get acquainted with the Cusco Region and Peru with an overview upon arrival. Relax and acclimatize before indulging in a local yummy group dinner at a farm-to-hotel table restaurant – dinner not included.


Day 7


Depart for a half-day trip up to the local weaving villages of Patacancha & Huilloq along the upper-reaches of the Sacred Valley – we’ll get a traditional alpaca dying and weaving demonstration. We’ll have the opportunity to help support the local weavers as they present their handmade ponchos and scarves for purchase.

Returning to the hotel, we will participate in an earthen-oven traditional lunch – Pachamanca (Earthen Oven in the local Quechua language) – and share some history with the traditional peoples of the village. While there, taste Caña Alta – a very refined, triple-distilled cane spirit –and sample locally roasted, unique Andean, Cloud Forrest and Amazonian coffee varietals. We end the day with a late and light dinner in town, dinner not included.


Day 8

Ollantaytambo — Machu Picchu

Today we head to Machu Picchu by train. Upon arrival, head up to the base of the ruins for a quick and light lunch at Machu Picchu cafeteria, where we’ll enter and explore the 15th-century Inca site.

After lunch, we head into the ruins for an afternoon in these ancient, inspiring ruins. Spend a few more hours exploring the ruins on your own this afternoon before returning to your room in one of our favorite hotels. Dinner included at the hotel.


Day 9

Machu Picchu — Cusco

Early morning entrance to the ruins for a short visit before a later morning train back to Ollantaytambo. Transfer to a van and explore the famous Salt Terraces and agricultural experimentation sites of Moray on the way to Cusco.

Evening on your own to wander the gorgeous streets of historic Cusco. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, recommendations provided!


Day 10


Early morning wander through the streets of traditional Cusco in the upper hillsides of the picturesque San Blas neighborhood. After a quick local lunch, we’ll check out the bustling central market, where we’ll buy ingredients for our cocktail making session with Jim tomorrow; a perfect day in Cusco! Dinner at local hot spot.


Day 11

Cusco — Sacred Valley

Start the day with a private visit to the renowned ruins (yes, the last ones of our trip!) at Sacsayhuaman, overlooking Cusco, and a tour of a private collection. Then we let you loose in Cusco for some free time…But wait, post-lunch, Adam will lead those who wish on his famous shopping tour of Cusco…only the best! Farewell dinner with Jim at the ready at the bar!


Day 12

Cusco — Lima — Home

Say farewell to Peru and the people you’ve gotten to know. Transfer to the airport for flights home or extend your stay!
