Our Responsibility

Ponte Travels chooses to look at tourism differently. Our fragile planet needs more attention than ever, from modifying our daily habits to be more aware of their global impact, conservation efforts, and protecting and rehabilitating local wildlife.

We believe responsible tourism involves supporting local economies & communities, contributing to wildlife conservation efforts, and protecting our planet.

Businesses are in a unique position to engender change at a rate far faster than any government. We’re proud to play our part in this as a responsible travel company. We are committed to not just do the least amount of damage, but to be a positive force in the travel industry.

We Give Back

Giving back has been at the heart of Ponte Travels since the beginning. We believe that every trip is an opportunity to have a deep and meaningful connection with the destination community.

Every time you book with us, you not only stay in top quality accommodations and discover the world’s finest destinations, but you also provide much needed support to NGOs who are working tirelessly to improve the lives of millions every day. A portion of your trip will be used to make a donation to our carefully selected organizations, focusing on economic impact, gender equality, access to education, community health, and wildlife conservation.

Carbon Neutral Trips

Tourism has a positive effect on many economies and can also help to preserve cultural heritage and promote local industries, but still has many negative impacts in terms of its carbon dioxide emissions. Recent research indicates tourism is responsible for 8% of global emissions when considering the carbon generated from common tourism activities such as food, accommodation, transport, fuel and shopping.

Every journey is important to us, which is why we’re committed to offsetting the carbon of our trips, driving positive change for our planet’s future. In partnership with the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) and South Pole, we pledge to offset 100% of the carbon of every one of our trips, contributing to environmental projects supporting forestry, renewable energy, and cookstoves.

We believe protecting the environment is a fundamental responsibility for all of us. In this way, we will collectively reduce our carbon footprint as a company and as individual travelers, leading to a more responsible way to experience the world.

Adventure Travel Conservation Fund

Ponte Travels is a proud member of the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund (ATCF), an international nonprofit focused on funding on-the-ground conservation projects around the world. The ATCF provides members in the travel and outdoor industry an avenue to directly support projects that are critical to protecting the future of adventure travel.

The mission of the ATCF is to directly fund local projects engaged in the conservation of unique natural and cultural resources of adventure travel destinations.

“Adventure and outdoor organizations have an opportunity to come together as members of the ATCF to protect international travel destinations where we all love to explore, learn and play,” says Soraya Shattuck, ATCF Executive Director. “Without the conservation of these unique environments, cultures and communities, we risk losing the very experiences that we seek when we travel.”

The adventure tourism industry is highly dependent on conserving the world’s natural and cultural resources, which is why we, along with ATCF members from across the globe, are uniting to protect threatened communities, cultures and wild places for current and future generations.
